Paslode tools
prove themselves Treasures on Whitehall
Joiners working on the second phase of the redevelopment
of the old Treasury Building in London’s Whitehall
have found Paslode Impulse IM350 cordless strip nailers
from ITW Construction Products to be the quickest, safest
and most effective methods of carrying out a variety of
first fix tasks around site.
Bovis Lend Lease, one of the partners in the PFI partnership
to refurbish the Grade II* listed Government Offices Great
George Street (GOGGS), asked Paslode to train not only
the joiners on site to use the Impulse IM350 safely and
efficiently, but also their own team of Construction Managers
as part of their on-going commitment to health and safety.
The Paslode Impulse IM350 nailers are being used primarily
for fixing floorboards. Every one of the floorboards in
the 100-year-old building is being removed to allow cleaning,
joist inspection and packing and the installation of floor
boxes. The original floorboards are then replaced, using
the Paslode tools, as part of the scheme to retain as
many as possible of the building’s original features.
As the project progresses, the Paslode Impulse tools will
be used for a variety of other tasks, such as fixing door
casings.
Dennis Hatton, Bovis Lend Lease’s Safety Manager
on site is impressed with the tools. “The joinery
contractors, Oakmead and Ruddy Joinery are using the Paslode
Impulse tools for six or seven hours a day, every day
and they just keep on going,” he comments. “There
is no quicker or safer way of carrying out this kind of
job and with the training that Paslode has given us, we
are confident that we using the tools safely and effectively.”.
